Baby Showers

Gender neutral baby showers are a little harder to plan. And who really likes all of the pastel green and yellow anyway. Here's one idea we've used. The invitations were very simply just printed on cardstock and matted on patterned paper and cardstock.

A diaper cake is a very easy, and practical shower gift these days. You can really decorate them up with just about anything. Here I just made three layers and tied it all together with blue and red/cream gingham check ribbon. I added a little sign on top made out of cardstock on a wooden skewer.

Basket full of goodies.
Green and brown is very popular as well. Here are a few pics of another shower we did for two girls. One was having a boy and the other a girl.

Memory Jar - 60th Birthday

Trying to find unique, memorable gifts is one of my passions, so when I stumbled upon a memories/celebration jar I just knew this would be perfect for my mom’s 60th birthday. I emailed friends and family, and even old high school friends of hers and asked for them to email me any kind of favorite memories, messages and/or stories of my mom from the many years that they have known her. I then printed each of them on a memory card (cardstock) with who they were from and filled the jar with lots of fabulous messages so she will forever know how very loved and special she is to so many people.

The response I got was really great. Below is a side shot of all of the memory cards I filled it with. Some of them were trips down memory lane, some of them hilarious stories, and some of them just birthday love and wishes. They were all wonderful.

The jar was from Hobby Lobby, and I filled it with glass beads. For the memory cards, I just printed them all on various colors of coordinating cardstock and folded them to the same size, sealed them with a sticker and stamped a flower on the outside for a little extra touch. Very inexpensive, personal gift idea.

Dinosaur Party

My son loves dinosaurs. For his 3rd birthday party we did a dinosaur theme. I had the cake made by someone, and the plastic dinosaurs and trees were a Target $1 spot find (great for party favor ideas as well). We had printed on the invitation for the kids to wear their camo to the birthday party to go along with the theme.
The t-shirts below were part of the party favors as well and the kids changed into them at the party. I downloaded some dinosaur clipart from the internet and added the kids names at the bottom (ex: Jaxon-O-Saurus) in MS Word. I grabbed a package of iron-on transfer paper and just printed the clipart and names on it. Iron them on a basic white t-shirt and you have custom shirts!
